Year 4 - Final Project "Jerusalem of Education"
This year’s final project, “Jerusalem of Education” is a unique, educational and social project and in an annual collaboration of the School of Design with the Jerusalem Municipality. The education system in Jerusalem currently has about a quarter of a million students in about 700 different and diverse schools scattered throughout the city. Towards 2030, Jerusalem has chosen to examine education and learning spaces as pedagogical accelerators. The goal of the project and the collaboration is to offer Jerusalem innovative solutions of spaces and pedagogy based on the complexity of the city and work with the school principal, teachers and children. Great emphasis was also placed on connecting the relevant conceptions of education to the 21st century with aspects of local context and emphasis on aesthetics, empathy, values and creativity. As part of the project, about 15 schools scattered in the east and west of the city were selected. The project involves about 80 students from the two programs of interior design and visual communication in the space with five instructors who are leading designers and architects in the field.
The exhibition, whose opening ceremony was broadcast live, seeks to present the various possibilities to develop approaches and reach new conclusions for the traditional model of the ‘school’ institution.
